Americhek Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the data breach affecting Americhek.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
A data breach at BackChecked LLC, a vendor for Certified Employment Screening Inc. (which does business as Americhek), was discovered after an unauthorized individual accessed its digital systems on September 26, 2024. The breach potentially compromised personal information from certain applicants’ records, including names, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, and Social Security numbers.
BackChecked notified Americhek, a provider of employment and tenant screening services, of the incident on October 29, 2024. Following an assessment, Americhek confirmed on November 21, 2024 that the BackChecked data breach might have compromised individuals' personal information, and the company is now sending notice to those who may have been affected.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Americhek to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
