Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the American International College data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Upon detecting suspicious activity on December 3, 2023, American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts initiated an investigation to ascertain the extent and nature of the breach.
With the aid of third-party forensic experts, the examination revealed that unauthorized access had been gained to the college's environment spanning from November 14 to December 3, 2023. It was determined that an external actor had managed to infiltrate the network and potentially access or exfiltrate specific information during this period.
In light of these findings, American International College conducted an evaluation of the compromised data to gauge the potential impact on sensitive information and the individuals affected. Ultimately, it was disclosed that a total of 11,822 individuals were impacted by the American International College data breach, with exposed information comprising of names and Social Security numbers. Comparitech.com reports that ransomware group nSafe claimed responsibility for the attack and claimed to have stolen 5,000 gigabytes of data.
