On September 11, 2023, Altman Specialty Plants detected suspicious activity on its network, prompting an investigation with the help of cybersecurity specialists. The probe revealed that unauthorized access to some of the commercial grower's files and folders occurred on the same day. Subsequent efforts to identify the compromised information and affected individuals concluded on July 2, 2024.
The Altman Specialty Plants data breach involved sensitive personal details, including names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, financial and payment card information, driver’s license and passport numbers, employer identification numbers, health insurance data, medical information, and usernames with passwords.
Altman is notifying individuals potentially affected by mailing letters to those for whom it has address records.
