Affiliated Dermatologists Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Affiliated Dermatologists data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
On March 5, 2024, Affiliated Dermatologists and Dermatologic Surgeons, P.A. discovered it had fallen victim to a cybersecurity attack, during which an unauthorized actor infiltrated its network and left a ransom note.
Approximately a month later, an investigation revealed that the unauthorized third party had exfiltrated private data belonging to both patients and employees between March 2 and March 5, 2024.
For patients, the compromised information may include names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, treatment information, and health insurance claims information. Employees may have had their names, dates of birth, mailing addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and passport numbers exposed in the Affiliated Dermatologists data breach.
The type of information compromised varies by person, and Affiliated Dermatologists will mail data breach notices to those affected, listing the specific categories of information that may have been exposed for them.
Affiliated Dermatologists and Dermatologic Surgeons, P.A., which has offices in New Jersey, reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that 380,000 people are affected by the data breach.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Affiliated Dermatologists to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
