Advarra Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Advarra data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Advarra, Inc., a company that provides research compliance services to hospital systems, clinical research organizations and more, is notifying patients of Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute that their information may have been exposed in a data breach it experienced.
The Advarra data breach occurred on October 25, 2023 when an unauthorized third party gained access to a single employee user account and acquired data. It has been reported that 26,577 individuals associated with Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute are affected by the incident and potentially had both names and Social Security numbers exposed.
Advarra says it obtained Moffitt Cancer Center patients' information as part of the services it provided to the Tampa-based organization. Notably, however, the breach did not involve any unauthorized access to Moffitt Cancer Center's systems, networks, or electronic health records.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Advarra to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
