Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Advantage Orthopedic & Sports Medicine data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
On July 29, 2024, Advantage Orthopedic & Sports Medicine, LLP alerted the Oregon Attorney General that it had fallen victim to a data breach between January 29 and February 12, 2024.
Advantage Orthopedic’s notice of the data breach reveals that it first detected unauthorized access to some of its systems and data on February 11. In response, the Oregon-based practice took steps to contain and address the situation by removing the unauthorized access, changing passwords, expanding multi-factor authentication, and consulting a leading privacy and data security firm.
Information potentially compromised in the Advantage Orthopedic data breach includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account information, clinical or treatment details, medical provider names, medical record numbers, patient account numbers, medical procedure information, health insurance details, billing information and prescription data.
The company states in its online notice that these categories are general and may not apply to all individuals affected. Advantage Orthopedic has sent personalized notification letters to those impacted, detailing the specific data elements that were compromised for each person.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Advantage Orthopedic & Sports Medicine to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
