- Type of Lawsuit
- Class Action
Property owners who experienced problems with TrimBoard, a manufactured or composite wood trim product, may be able to participate in a Trim Board class action to seek compensation for damages. Allegedly, the fiberboard is not suitable for exterior use, as its tendency to absorb moisture can lead to a number of problems including decay and insect infestation. Due to allegations that the wood trim product, which was also marketed under the names Choice Trim and Pro Trim, was defectively designed, home and business owners who experienced problems with the wood trim may be able to participate in a Trim Board class action lawsuit.
Louisiana Pacific and ABTCO Wood Trim Problems
Due to its reported tendency to absorb moisture, TrimBoard may not be suitable for exterior use, although it was marketed as such. If the wood trim product retains moisture, it can allegedly affect the product's aesthetic appearance, as well as its stability and longevity. In some cases, this may also lead to rotting, decay and swelling, which may give rise to a number of other problems including insect infestation and the development of fungi, mildew and mold. Home and business owners who are unsure as to whether their property was installed with this type of fiberboard can contact the contractor who installed the trim, which has a paper surface that looks smooth or embossed with a cedar-like texture.
Trim Board Class Action
It is believed that many homeowners around the country have been negatively impacted by the premature failure of TrimBoard, with some reportedly suffering a loss in resale value of their property. Potentially, these individuals may be able to participate in a Trim Board class action lawsuit to collectively file a claim seeking compensation for damages.
