- The New York Times is reporting that the $77 billion solar industry is facing a quality crisis in which "even the most reputable companies are substituting cheaper, untested materials."

If you purchased or installed solar panels that were defective or are not generating the megawatts as promised, you may be eligible to participate in a class action lawsuit. It has been alleged that defects in select solar panel coatings have caused the panels to prematurely disintegrate, sometimes causing complete failure just two years into their expected twenty-five year life span.
These issues may be due to companies using subpar and defective products. An independent solar testing service explained that “some manufacturers are absolutely swapping in cheap Chinese materials to save money.” And, even solar panel manufacturers have admitted this is a problem. “We need to face up to the fact that corners are being cut,” said Conrad Burke, general manager for DuPont’s billion-dollar photovoltaic division, which supplies materials to solar manufacturers.
