- Additional Details
- Energy Star appliances are typically required to use 10% to 35% less energy than standard models. They are sold at a higher premium, based on the promise of reduced energy and water bills which will eventually generate enough savings to compensate the consumer for paying a higher up-front price for their appliance.
Consumers who purchased any of the following appliances may be able to participate in a potential Energy Star class action lawsuit against the manufacturer. It is believed that these appliances have been sold under the Energy Star label, but do not actually qualify for this energy efficiency rating. As a result, consumers will have paid a higher-up front price for these appliances, followed by higher energy bills, according to allegations.

Energy Star Class Action Lawsuit
Energy Star is a joint government program which aims to save consumers money and help the environment through the use of energy efficient products. Appliances which qualify for the Energy Star program are typically required to use 10% to 35% less energy than standard models. Because they can help save energy and result in lower utility bills, they are generally sold at higher prices than standard models. If a manufacturer sold these appliances under the Energy Star label when they, in fact, did not qualify, consumers may have legal recourse to seek compensation through a class action lawsuit.
Potentially, an Energy Star class action lawsuit could allege that consumers were financially damaged by purchasing these appliances. In believing these products qualified for the Energy Star program, they will have paid a higher up-front price for their appliance without receiving the benefit of lower utility bills. Based on these allegations, an Energy star class action lawsuit may be possible for these individuals.
